Travel Training is a great tool for improving or maintaining mobility for older adults and adults with disabilities
Learn the fundamental skills needed to use public transportation with confidence, travel independently and keep active in your community
The program is designed for first time and returning riders who need assistance using public transportation in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties. Certified Travel Trainers lead group, individual and peer trainings to educate and instruct older adults and adults with disabilities on how to independently use fixed route, curb-to-curb (Connector), community and ADA services, Classes are FREE, approximately 1- 1 1/2 hours, and refreshments are served.
Transportation can be the key to independence. The use of public transportation options can help seniors get to the store, medical appointments, recreational activities, and any destination accessible within their service boundaries.

Travel Training teaches how to:
Identify available and appropriate services
- Access Community, Connector and fixed route services
- Plan a trip by bus
- Read bus schedules
- Board, ride, and exit the vehicle
- Pay the fare
- Transfer from one bus to another
- Reach specific destinations
- Safely cross the street
- Apply for ADA service (if applicable)
- Available one-on-one or in a group setting
